Celebrating Australia’s diverse food culture, and using it as a vehicle to raise both awareness and funds to support our sustainable food projects abroad is what OnePlate all about, so what better way to do just that than by throwing a party.
Not just any party, mind you. We’ve teamed up with OnePlate ambassador and well known French chef, Pierrick Boyer to bring you something truly special. Something with a certain je ne sais quoi! It’s time to party like a Parisian!
On Saturday October 13, Pierrick’s new cafe in the heart of Prahran will be transformed into a Parisian Jazz club, complete with pop-up musicians, cocktails, signature canapés and plenty of French flair. Not to mention a special surprise created by Pierrick himself.
It’ll be a party created by foodies, for foodies, and all proceeds will be used to fund OnePlate’s sustainable food projects that support street children in Africa and Asia.
Check out our very special invitation, created by renowned international fashion artist, Megan Hess, for all the details.
See you there!
Proudly brought to you by Event Management Studio, a proud member of The Collective by Friends.

Brrrrrr.......winter has hit and although it's rainy and dreary at times, those moments of glorious sunshine are reminders of better weather to come.
I've been reading more about what the Danes do during their very long winters, and I think we could definitely take some inspiration from them.
Warm drinks, lots of candles, nurturing conversation, wool blankets, open fires can all contribute to growing closer to those around us (which is the aim of what we do here at The Collective). We're all about growing closer and having deeper relationships with family and friends.
There's little rest for us though!
Autumn saw us putting on our latest photo shoot featuring work from PepperEve, MarMar Designs, Flourish & Grow and The Sweet Event Cupcakes, all brought together by The Event Management Studio with styling by HH Aesthetic and beautifully captured by L'Capture Photography. What a team!
(Here are some of us on the day!)
A very big thanks to Emma who hosted and to Laurent-Perrier for the delectable champagne (no secret it's our fave).
We're off planning some very exciting events for our clients, weddings, fundraising soirees and everything in between!
Until next time,
A new year, a new struggle! And the struggle is, to keep you all up to date with all of our news!
The party season isn't quite over (which, let's be honest, should never end), and our members have been madly busy with weddings, parties and all manner of celebrations over the summer.
We've made some new friends, and we've got some more to introduce you to over the course of the coming year.
You'll also get the chance to come behind the scenes and meet our members properly. You'll read about what inspires them and how being part of the Collective helps them achieve their goals.
In the meantime, here's our fave drink of the summer for you to make at home:
200ml Pimm's No. 1
sprigs, sliced cucumber, sliced orange and strawberries, to serve
Fill a jug with ice and pour over the Pimm’s and lemonade.
Give it a good stir then add the mint, cucumber and fruit.
Earlier this month, members of the Collective by Friends got together and celebrated our first year together!
We styled and shot the afternoon, complete with a grazing table from our lovely newest member, One Fine Table and joined by cupcakes and chocolates from The Sweet Event Cupcakes, topped off by a decadent birthday cake (dark chocolate and orange - my fave) from Kitty Pimms. We had some truly gorgeous gold bird cages draped in flowers by MarMar Designs and Botanicals by Alice, all brought together by our fabulous stylist HH Aesthetic and managed by the Event Management Studio. A few glasses of well deserved champagne made the whole day perfect!
I'm not sure where the year has gone, but we've had some really memorable highlights, particularly our partnership with OnePlate. We helped launch the social enterprise earlier in the year, with a decadent dessert evening, and then brought together nine contestants from Masterchef for a sumptuous banquet at the Glasshaus in Richmond.
As well as the countless clients we have met throughout the past year, we are so grateful for the support and encouragement we have received along the way.
My biggest thanks goes to all the members who have been with us for our very first year. We only exist because of your talents and your wonderfully friendly attitude.
I'm so looking forward to growing with you, helping you grow your business, making new friends and having more parties!
Winter is well and truly here, and it's such a great time to pull out the slow cooker, have friends over for a glass (or two) or red, play board games and cards and generally slow down a bit.
Some of my best memories with friends have been had at this time of year.
The Danes even have a special name for it - hygge.
It helps them get through long, dark winters, and it's all about 'togetherness'.
Being inside more during this time of year necessarily means that we see more of each other - there's no room to escape!
It's a special opportunity to get closer to those we live with, to develop those life-long bonds (an incubation period perhaps) which see us through life.
What things do you do differently during winter which brings you closer to those around you?
It was a crisp night when The Collective hosted more than 250 guests at the OnePlate launch a few weeks ago. What an absolute treat to be part of the beginning of such a great cause. A number of our members came together to put on a really enjoyable evening at 524 Flinders event space.
The Sweet Event Cupcakes (by the lovely Nikki) and our talented Lauren from Kitty Pimms loaded up the dessert table with delectable treats.
They were joined by special guest and champion of OnePlate, Pierrick Boyer who brought along the most decadent brownies ever tasted.
Emma, our unstoppable event coordinator from Event Management Studio made sure everything went smoothly, and Hannah from HH Aesthetic brought the whole look together. They were both joined by Mari from MarMar Designs and Alice from Flourish & Grow who brought this blank space to life through greenery and flowers.
The night was a wonderful success and it was so rewarding to see how far OnePlate has come, and their vision for the future. Have a look at their website and encourage your favourite eatery or bar to get on board as a venue partner.
We have some more exciting projects in the pipeline, so check back often for updates and exclusive news about events we host where you can get a seat at the table!
We are very excited to announce an exclusive partnership with OnePlate to style their events.
We are big supporters of their work to eradicate child hunger and promote food security, plate by plate. OnePlate forms relationships with eateries around the country who nominate a menu item where $1 is donated directly to sustainable food projects, and we can't wait to help spread the message.
Check them out and mention OnePlate's mission to your favourite café, restaurant and bar, and get them on board!
Make a difference, one plate at a time
January, where did you go?
For many of us at The Collective, January has been quite a busy month, so it seems like an appropriate time to slow down and rewind.
Yes, we’ve been busy, but what exactly do we get up to, and more importantly, why?
Over the next little while, we’ll be cornering our members and valued suppliers, coaxing them with questions to tell us a little more about what they do, what motivates them and why they’ve decided to be part of this venture.
Keep an eye out!
Gosh! Where did 2016 go?
I don't know about you, but I love to close the old year off by thinking of the many things that make me grateful. Small things. Obvious things. Everything.
Then I think about what I'd like to grow in for the New Year.
What was the one thing that could have helped me overcome the challenges in 2016?
What was the common thread that made life difficult, for me and those around me?
Was it a lack of patience? Too much talking, not enough listening?
Too much technology, not enough [human] face time?
Whatever it is, I make a note, put it in my phone and look at it throughout the year.
How am I going?
What do you do? Do you make resolutions? Many resolutions, or just one?
I've got some exciting news to share next week, so stay tuned!
Well, it's been a very busy few months for everyone here at The Collective!
Since launching last month, our members have been out and about bringing their creatives talents to old and new friends, helping you to create events with meaning.
Our vision is simple; to bring people closer together during significant times in life, to go deeper and develop and strengthen those bonds which keep us united, and which bring peace to families, and ultimately the world.
A big vision? Absolutely!
So this Christmas, we are setting you a challenge.
Forget the stuff, the rushing around, the expectations we set for ourselves and others. Forget seeking to have the 'perfect' Christmas to share on Instagram or Facebook. Put the technology down and have those conversations with those you love. Create memories, not social media posts. Look people in the eye and really connect with them.
Remember the real reason for Christmas.
Remember the poverty of the stable in Bethlehem.
Remember the utter love for a helpless little baby and the gentle caresses from a new mother and father to their newborn son.
A very happy and peace-filled Christmas from all of us at The Collective by Friends.
It's Spring! Hurrah!
It's also the first official birthday of The Collective, and we have been madly working behind the scenes to make it all happen.
This very exciting enterprise is the result of musings and conversations with close friends over many years, and we are thrilled to finally bring it out into the open.
All of the members of The Creative have been personally tapped on the shoulder and asked to be part of this group of very talented creatives.
These are friends, old and new who have always been known for their creative flair, and have often had their work ooohhh'dd and aaahhh'd at friends weddings, baptisms, birthdays and everything in between.
Some have only done their thing for the closest of friends, while others are seasoned professionals! We have persuaded them to come together and share it with the world....well, with the good people of Melbourne at least!
Who knows where this could go? It's really up to you!
We are excited to see, but in the meantime, meet our friends and see what they might be able to do for your special event.
Check back here soon, because we're now busy planning for our very first photo shoot, and it's looking amazing!
